THE CRAFTSBURY (now GREENSBORO!)  FUNNERY

Vermont Humanities has leaped big time into sponsoring our work. They understand that the  Funnery is always a space and time for talking about what's going on in the world—and in our own lives.

 In 2021, A Midsummer Night's Dream inspired
great conversations about climate change. In '22, Hamlet helped us unpack feelings about grief, generational mistrust, our hold on mental health...

"Thank you for giving me the best two weeks of my year. When I came to Funnery this summer I was tired and stressed, I just wanted to stay locked in my room and sleep for 100 years. When I left camp, I had discovered who I was . . . and I was stronger and confident and ready for a new start in life. "

Sometimes a pandemic can yield an unexpected benefit. When we took our Funnery online in 2020, we were able to collaborate with the Thespo youth theatre company in Mumbai, India. Check out the AWESOME video about them on their homepage. We made new friends! We worked well together, and learned so much. It was a HUGE foot in the virtual door. We kept the door open and collaborated some more. When travel is easier, we hope to bring Thespo actors to Vermont.

In 2022  Hamlet, captured us with assassinations, palace intrigue, ghosts, crazy love, gaslighting, friends spying on friends, dueling, and dumb shows!
We took it all on. We outsoared the shadows of the pandemic.
