The best young people's SHAKESPEARE you'll ever see (or do!)
A Message from Founder/Director Peter GouldThe Funnery started in 1998 with one camp in Craftsbury, in the fabled Northeast Kingdom of Vermont. We're still right here, and more Funneries have sprung up all around. We do Shakespeare in a free-wheeling physical style that's totally faithful to Shakespeare's glorious language. We are a LIFE CAMP, too. Because theater education is the antidote to—well, it's the antidote to everything! You can go right to the CAMPS pages to sign up for 2021! And, you can also go there to get the Craftsbury Funnery official script. |
At camp we work our hearts, minds, bodies, and voices more than any of us do anywhere else—at any other time. It's TWO WEEKS TOWARD A MORE POWERFUL YOU! You could end up with a successful style of self-expression and positive self-esteem that stays around forever. In 2020, our core teachings of compassion, inclusivity, and support for each other turned out to be more important than ever. There's a great interview about the problems we faced with Covid-19. Take a look! For camp we did Merchant of Venice; we talked, discussed, and dialogued about prejudice and hatred, and we made a movie all about it, which we called QUALITIES OF "MERCY?" Have you seen it? We really really want you to!
Want to join? Come to a show? Send your kids to camp?
Or, how about this: still stuck at home and NEEDING theater stimulation desperately?
If you want to "Get Thee to the Funnery" for any reason, here's how!
