you'll ever see (or do!)

A Message from Founder/Director Peter Gould:
We were Live/In-Person in 2021
We're Live/In-Person in 2022!

The Funnery started in 1998 in the fabled Northeast Kingdom of Vermont. We're still right here. We do Shakespeare in a free-wheeling physical style that still keeps the Bard's glorious language. We are a LIFE CAMP, too.  Because theater education is the antidote to—okay, it's the antidote to everything!

You can go right to the CAMPS pages to sign up for 2022! And, you can also go there to get the Craftsbury Funnery official script--but that is not quite ready yet. HAMLET does take some editing. By the way, the "Craftsbury Funnery" happens in Greensboro now. It's just the next town over.

At camp we work our hearts, minds, bodies, and voices more than any of us do anywhere else—at any other time. It's TWO WEEKS TOWARD A MORE POWERFUL YOU! You'll pick up skills in self-expression and self-esteem that stay around forever. During the pandemic, our core teachings of compassion & support for each other have been more important than ever. There's a great interview about the problems we faced with Covid-19. Take a look!  In 2020 we did Merchant of Venice on Zoom; we talked about hatred and prejudice. We made a movie all about it, which we called QUALITIES OF "MERCY?" Have you seen it? We really really want you to! In 2021 we met in person on the lawn of the beautiful Highland Center for the Arts in Greensboro. We did A Midsummer Night's Dream, and talked about climate change—and Shakespeare, too. Awesome!
